Annual Dinner Dance at DeSales Raises $137,000 for Scholarship Fund
Approximately 675 guests helped celebrate a "Roman Holiday," the theme of DeSales University's annual gala held recently. Guests at the 23rd Annual Dinner Dance included business and community leaders from Lehigh and Northampton Counties. The black-tie event was sponsored by Keystone Nazareth Charitable Foundation, Keystone Nazareth Bank & Trust. Serving as co-chairpersons were Cathy and Scott Fainor, president and CEO of Keystone Nazareth Bank & Trust of Bethlehem.
Among those attending were: Senator and Mrs. Charles Dent, Representative Jennifer Mann, Senator and Mrs. Robert Wunderling, the Representative and Mrs. Patrick Browne, and District Attorney and Mrs. James Martin.
More than $137,000 was raised for the University's scholarship fund. This money is applied directly to the DeSales University's student financial aid program to help deserving students meet the cost of their education.
For the occasion, Billera Hall was transformed into an opulent ballroom, complete with vast panoramic murals of the Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, the Roman Forum, and the Coliseum, some measuring as much as 30 ' by 20' and 24' by 16'. Don Werkman, of Image Works in Orefield, Pa., created the Roman fantasy from slides belonging to Lee Butz, CEO of Alvin H. Butz, Inc. According to Werkman, the murals were the largest ever produced in the Lehigh Valley.
Next year's black tie gala is scheduled for Saturday, March 19, 2005. For additional information, please contact Diane Moeser, director of special events at DeSales, at 610-282-1100 ext. 1307.
