Karen Peterson is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Nursing in the Department of Nursing and Health and has taught the Mental Health Nursing course for several years. She is a certified psychiatric Clinical Nurse Specialist and has served in a variety of primary care roles. Her experience includes practice in a clinical specialist role as well as director of a psychiatric unit.
Ms. Peterson is responsible for teaching the Mental Health Nursing course and the Clinical Nurse Specialist program. In addition to her teaching responsibilities, Ms. Peterson is an active member of her church and assists in Bible School and as a Sunday School teacher. She serves as president of the Board of a Day Care.
Ms. Peterson received her Nursing Diploma from Good Samaritan Hospital School of Nursing in Portland, Oregon. She then completed her BSN at George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia. She completed her MSN at Rutgers University with a specialty of psychiatric/mental health nursing.
