HR Mission Statement
The mission of the Office of Human Resources is to support the goals of DeSales University and the challenges of our employees by providing services which promote a work environment that is characterized by fair treatment of all, open communications, personal accountability, trust and mutual respect.

We provide a competitive benefits package to attract and maintain our excellent work force. Highlighted below are some of the benefits available to our full-time employees:

Medical Plans
DeSales University offers a choice of medical plans through Highmark: PPO Blue Plan (zero deductible), PPO Blue Plan with deductible ($500/$1500 maximum per family deductible). The University contributes various dollar amounts toward health care premiums. See monthly medical and dental expenses. Coverage is available the first of the month after a full time employee’s date of hire. 

According to the DeSales University Spousal Coordination of Benefits Policy, Spouses of employees are ineligible for University coverage in any health care insurance plan if such spouse is eligible for coverage at his/her place of employment. This is also true for adult children under the age of 26 who are eligible for coverage.

Dental Plan
DeSales University offers dental insurance through United Concordia. The employee pays the entire premium for dental care. See monthly medical and dental expenses.

Life Insurance
DeSales University provides group term life insurance to all full-time employees. The amount of this policy is equal to 1.5 times the employee's annual salary to a maximum of $250,000 (amount reduces after age 70). Employees complete an initial beneficiary designation upon hire and may update it at anytime.

Regular and Supplemental Retirement Plans
Regular and group supplemental retirement plans are offered through TIAA-CREF. Participation may begin on the first day of the month following employment. After one year of service the University will contribute 8% with a minimum employee contribution of 4%. Investment options include annuity; bond fund; equity index fund; global fund; real estate fund; growth fund; money market; social choice or stock fund.

Long-Term Disability Insurance
DeSales University provides a group long term disability (LTD) policy for all full-time employees on the first day of the month following one year of continuous service. The University pays the entire LTD premium to the carrier.

Long-Term Care Insurance
DeSales University sponsors a group long-term care insurance plan through John Hancock for active employees, eligible spouses, parents, and parents-in law, retirees, siblings, adult children, grandparents and grandparents-in laws.

Credit Union
Membership is available to DeSales University employees and their families through the Lehigh Valley Educators Credit Union or First Commonwealth Federal Credit Union. Most services are available through payroll deduction. Contact human resources  for complete details.

Flexible Benefits Plan
DeSales University offers employees the option to participate in a flexible spending account (FSA) through Benefit Allocation Systems (BAS). This plan permits employees to pay for certain health/dental care and day care expenses with before tax dollars. Contact human resources for complete details. The plan allows current participants to monitor and administer their plan through the BAS website.

Tuition Benefits
DeSales University offers tuition remission benefits as well as tuition exchange and CIC scholarship opportunities
