Business Faculty Member to Become a Sushi Scholar
It's DeSales vs. Penn State Lehigh Valley in a sushi cook-off!
On Tuesday, March 29, 2011, at 5 p.m., Dr. Christopher Cocozza, associate professor of business at DeSales University, will become a Sushi Scholar at KOME Restaurant in the Promenade Shops at Saucon Valley.
Sushi Scholars are part of the restaurant’s culinary series featuring Lehigh Valley Educators who inspire appetizers and compete with one another. Komé’s Executive Chef Shuji Hiyakawa meets with each educator-competitor to create an original appetizer. At the evening cook-offs, diners rate two competing educators’ dishes on appearance, taste, and overall creativity. The dish amassing the most points wins the educator’s school 15% of the night’s receipts.
Cocozza will compete against Tai-Yin Huang, Ph.D., associate professor of physics at Penn State Lehigh Valley. Other nights have featured high school and elementary school teachers competing. A championship round between educators with the highest point totals will take place on April 26.
“We’re excited to feature some of the most creative, inspired culinary minds working in education in the Valley, ” said Hiyakawa. “We’ve gotten to know many local families, teachers and students that support our restaurant,” said Hiyakawa.
