Second Annual Catholic Volunteer Service Fair to be Held Tues., Nov. 16
Campus ministry and the office of social outreach at DeSales will sponsor the second annual Post-Graduate Catholic Volunteer Service Fair from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 16, in the DeSales University Center. This event is open to the public free of charge.
Over 16 different Catholic volunteer organizations, including ones from Portland, Ore., Worchester Mass., and Baltimore, Md., as well as the DeSales Service Works, will be represented at the volunteer fair. These service organizations offer recent graduates a chance to serve in a variety of ministries (education, social work, youth work, social advocacy, etc.)
Most placements are for one- to two-year periods and have the graduates participating in a community setting with a distinctive spiritual component. A good number of ministries are performed in the United States, though some, such as the Jesuit Volunteer Corps also have international placements.
For several years, a small number of DeSales graduates have participated in various service projects and have volunteered in many different organizations with very positive results.
Recent college graduates who might be interested in attending the volunteer fair and investigating the possibility of participating in Catholic, community-based service are welcome to attend.
For more information on the Catholic Volunteer Service Fair, please contact Fr. John Hanley, OSFS, director of campus ministry at DeSales, at (610) 282-1100 ext. 1898.
