11th Annual Chemistry Demonstrations Program public performance will be held October 26, 2011, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. in the Hurd Science Center.

Colorful Explosions will Rock the Hurd Science Center!

Colorful and explosive presentations will rock the Hurd Science Center Auditorium at the 11th Annual Chemistry Demonstrations Program public performance on October 26, 2011, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.

The program fuses chemical concepts with humor and music to create experiments that are visually interesting, exciting, and illustrative of important but easily understood chemical concepts. This family-friendly event is open to the public free of charge. The program has received rave reviews; seats are first-come-first-served.

The purpose of the Chemistry Demonstrations Program is to provide elementary, middle, and high school students with the opportunity to increase their appreciation of the importance of science, and in particular, to enrich their understanding of chemistry. Private performances for local area elementary, middle, and high school students are also held throughout the year.

The Chemistry Demonstrations Program is directed by Dr. Rodger Berg, associate professor, coordinator of chemistry, chairperson of DeSales University’s Natural Science Department, and head of the Health and Science Division. He is assisted by Dr. Julie Aaron, assistant professor; Dr. Sara Hayik, assistant professor; Dr. Francis Mayville, associate professor of chemistry; and Patricia Hartman, chemistry laboratory manager.
