DeSales University canceled the mid-year commencement ceremony planned for Sunday, January 23, because of concerns over the health and safety of guests and graduates, due to extreme cold and the possibility of significant snowfall. It was the first time in the school's 40-year history that a graduation had been canceled. Among the recent 265 graduates, 120 earned bachelor's degrees and 145 earned master's. Students will receive their diplomas in the mail next week. If they choose, students can march in the spring commencement on May 21.
