Recommendation must be made by the Director of the Graduate Program and the Financial Aid Department, if applicable, and must be approved by the Controller of DeSales University for the tuition payment to be deferred.
Upon payment of a nonrefundable $100.00 tuition deposit and the granting of the request for tuition deferment, the student agrees to be legally bound for the balance of the payment of tuition for the course(s) as specified on the application and evidenced by his/her submission of same.
Tuition deferment is granted in keeping with the policy stated below:
1. Tuition deferment will be granted in the following cases:
A. When a new student is eligible for the tuition reimbursement from his/her employer written evidence may be required from the employer. Only the amount of tuition which can be reimbursed will be deferred. "The student is responsible for requesting the reimbursement from his/her employer unless the University has a direct billing relationship with the employer." In cases where reimbursement is contingent upon the successful completion of the course(s) and the student either withdraws from the course(s) or doesn't achieve a grade sufficient to warrant maximum reimbursement, the student is ultimately responsible for payment of the course(s) as per the current Graduate Division Catalog.
With respect to the continuing student in the graduate program, the Business Office may require written evidence of continuing eligibility for employer reimbursement to the Business Office.
B. When a student is requesting a deferment based on financial aid, the mandatory requirements as identified by the Financial Aid Department must be completed prior to the Financial Aid Department recommending deferment to the Controller.
C. When a student processes a loan through a bank or other agency, written evidence of the loan is required. Tuition is deferred until the loan money is received. If the loan proceeds are insufficient, the difference will be due immediately.
2. No graduate student who is eligible for tuition deferment will be permitted to register for any session until all bills for all previous sessions are fully paid with the exception that the immediate previous session may still be unpaid if the student is registered in consecutive sessions.
