"Viva Las Vegas!" is Theme for 24th Annual Dinner Dance at DeSales, Saturday, March 19
The 24th Annual Dinner Dance at DeSales University will be held on Saturday, March 19. This year's theme, "Viva Las Vegas!," is inspired by the glamour of vintage Vegas in the "Rat Pack" years. The black-tie event will begin at 7:00 p.m. in Billera Hall, where rich visuals featuring colorful diagonals, sparkle and movement will help set the mood for the evening's festivities.
All funds raised by the annual five-star gala benefit student financial aid. Last year's event netted $136,537, which topped the previous year's net of $119,235. Since it was first held in 1982, the event has raised more than $1.5 million for the financial aid program.
Computer Aid, Inc., of Allentown, is the Gold Sponsor of this year's event. Tony Salvaggio, president of Computer Aid, Inc., and his wife, Norene, will serve as co-chairs. More than 700 guests, including business, professional, and community leaders from the area, are sponsoring tables or providing contributions.
"Our Vegas will be the Las Vegas of yesteryear, before the era of huge hotels with laser shows and gigantic video screens," said Diane Moeser, director of special events. "It will be the Las Vegas of the 1950s and 1960s, the stylish desert oasis with the six original hotels featuring one or more members of the Rat Pack on any given night."
The evening will begin at 7:00 p.m. with cocktails, followed by a gourmet dinner at 8:00 p.m. After a classic shrimp cocktail and roasted vegetable turine, guests will dine on Chateaubriand with béarnaise sauce. Dessert will feature Bailey's Irish Crème cheesecake. Music will be provided by the Carmen Dee Orchestra, a swing band, with dancing until midnight.
