The DeSales M.Ed. online courses are:
Faculty led
Our courses are not self-paced, but are taught using sound principles and best practices for online teaching by our specially trained faculty.
Student centered
Courses focus on maximizing the opportunities for social learning by promoting student-to-student connections, as well as connections to faculty and the university. We never want our students to feel alone or abandoned in cyberspace.
Highly interactive
Students interact with each other, the faculty, and the course content for constructivist-based learning opportunities in a strongly connected classroom community.
Structured
Courses move through each session week-by-week; in this way attendance and contact hour equivalency can be established and monitored so that students do not procrastinate or fall behind. Many courses also indicate the anticipated amount of time each activity and assignment will take during the class week.
Supported
Students can rely, not only on technical support and support from faculty, but on support from classmates as they learn together, sharing a sense of confidence in their ability to learn in this distance learning format.
Successful
Our online courses have almost no attrition due to the distance learning format as students quickly establish connections, familiarity with course structure, and relationships with faculty and students that lead to successful online learning experiences.
