DeSales Junior Honored By Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees
Kaitlyn Danna Celeste, a junior majoring in elementary education at DeSales University, is the recipient of the 2005 Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees (PASR) Region 2 Educational Support Scholarship Award. The award in the amount of $750 was presented to Celeste during Region 2's annual general meeting and luncheon held in early May.
The honor is given to students majoring in education at local and regional colleges. Candidates are selected by the education departments of the participating schools.
"I am deeply honored to have been recognized by the PASR committee, for the effort I have put into my education," said Celeste. "This award has provided motivation for me, in my goal to become a successful educator for tomorrow's youth."
Celeste, of Basking Ridge, New Jersey, is pursuing a degree in elementary education, with dual certification in elementary and special education.
Dr. Diane King, department chairperson and director of special education at DeSales, praised Celeste for her enthusiasm about teaching and her high level of achievement.
"Faculty members in the DeSales University Education Department are very proud that PASR selected to honor Kaitlyn with this highly prestigious award," said King. "She is well deserving and a committed future educator, who works hard to prepare for her impending career."
The Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees, the third largest school retiree organization in the country, has more than 40,000 members who are all retired employees of the public schools of Pennsylvania.
