The Morning Call, Sunday, May 22, 2005
Story by Dan Shope (with photos) includes comments from graduating DeSales students at Commencement on Sat., May 21, about the impact the events of Sept. 11 had on their career choices and other pursuits. Members of the Class of 2005 were freshmen when the attacks on Sept. 11 took place. At the outdoor graduation exercises on Sat., Cathy Pressimore '05, theater major from Mount Holly, N.C., remarked how the weather was similar to that on Sept. 11 - the sky was clear, with no planes to be seen. She recalled how students gathered to watch TV and their feeling of uncertainty, and how they connected with one another. Pressimore said she found herself becoming more socially aware and politically minded. The story also mentioned the loss of Daniel Gallagher '00, who has a recreation area on campus dedicated to him.
