DeSales University Announces New Education Honor Society
Center Valley, Pa., -- (November 8, 2002) - Students and faculty of DeSales University will be inducted into the newly established Alpha Alpha Chi chapter of Kappa Delta Pi, an international education honor society dedicated to scholarship and excellence in education, during a mass and induction ceremony Sunday, November 10, 2002 at 11 a.m., in the Connelly Chapel at DeSales University.
During the ceremony, Dr. Blossom S. Nissman, Kappa Delta Pi national president will give a keynote presentation. Dr. Timothy Fitzgerald, dean of students of DeSales University and Paulette Belusko, local chapter president, will be presented with the University's official charter naming the Alpha Alpha Chi chapter during the ceremony.
Kappa Delta Pi represents a community of scholars pledged to worthy ideas that recognize scholarship and excellence in education. In addition, the group promotes the development and dissemination of worthy education ideals and practices, enhances the continuous growth and leadership of its membership, fosters inquiry and reflection on education issues and maintains a high level of professional fellowship.
DeSales University will induct faculty and students into the honor society. Faculty and staff members being inducted include: adjunct faculty members Trudy Ashbrook and Peter Roland both of Zionsville; John Donaldson of Hellertown, an instructor in the Business Department; David Harris of Quakertown, an adjunct faculty member; Ramona Hollie-Major, associate director of the MBA program and Kevin Brosious, an adjunct faculty member, both of Allentown; Aaron Isabelle, an assistant professor of social sciences, of Schwenksville; adjunct faculty member Joseph Macaluso of Whitehall; Terry Olivier, director of the M.Ed. program, of Havertown; adjunct faculty member, Deborah Peters of Breinigsville; Robert Mulligan, an instructor in the Social Sciences Department, of Center Valley; Kathleen Bast, an adjunct faculty member, of Easton; John Squarcia, an adjunct faculty member, of Pen Argyl, James Walter, an adjunct faculty member, of Sinking Spring and Mary Ann DiEdwardo, adjunct faculty member, Timothy Fitzgerald, dean of students, Anne Rampolla, assistant professor of humanities and Michael Stehlin, an adjunct faculty member, all of Bethlehem.
DeSales University students being inducted include: Class of 2003 elementary education majors, Paulette Belusko of Hazleton, Richard Carminati of Roslyn, Anastasia Chaklos of Haddon Heights, N.J., Melanie DeSanctis of Springtown, Carol Engelman of Easton, Christina Hoffman and John Keet of Allentown, Anne Korves of Bethlehem, Nadene Serano of Coopersburg, Brian Sigafoos of Nazareth and Heather Sloyer of Milford, N.J.; Class of 2004 elementary education majors Kassandra Aristide of Nazareth and Lori King of New Tripoli; and elementary education post-graduate student Karen Lynn of Bethlehem. Other students being inducted: Class of 2003 math majors Dean Kelly of Harleysville, Kathryn Kraynak of Lansdale, Daniel Mager of Wilmington, Del., and Ingrid Sieber of Coopersburg.
Class of 2003 English major Verna Fisher of Bethlehem and class of 2003 Spanish majors Michael Newman of Toledo, Ohio and Thomas Viviano of Hatboro, Pa., will also be inducted.
Graduate students Bonnie Organski of Quakertown and Karen Pummer of Bethlehem will also be inducted.
