DeSales University Chorale Presents Concert to Benefit Community Music School
Center Valley, PA - (March 28, 2002) - The DeSales University Chorale will present its annual Spring Concert April 19 through 21. Performances will take place in the Connelly Chapel on the campus of DeSales University. In addition to the regular Chorale, the concert will also feature a soloist from the Community Music School, and will be accompanied by the Random Five String Quartet. All donations will benefit Allentown's Community Music School.
The concert, directed by Matthew DiBattista, will feature Credo in G by Giacomo Puccini and Nänie by Johannes Brahms. Admission is free, however, the Chorale requests a $5.00 donation, which will be presented to Community Music School for the purpose of providing the opportunity to study music to students, regardless of financial status.
Celebrating 20 years of serving the Lehigh Valley, the Community Music School (CMS) was awarded the 2000 Arts Ovation Award by the Allentown Arts Commission. Founded in 1981, CMS offers the highest quality music instruction accessible and affordable to all persons, regardless of race, gender, creed, national origin, or ability to pay. "We wanted to give something back to the music community, and this seemed like the perfect fit," says DiBattista. "Several of our Chorale students have attended CMS, and this was a way they felt they could encourage other young musicians to further their music education."
Performance times are at 8 p.m. Friday, April 19, Saturday, April 20, and Sunday, April 21. Seating is limited, and reservations must be made by calling the Act 1 Box Office at 610.282.3192.
