DeSales University Announces $1.2 Million in State Job Training Grants
Center Valley, Pa., - (March 20, 2002) - DeSales University today announced the names of 11 Lehigh Valley organizations that have received nearly $1.2 million combined in state customized job training grants.
The companies receiving customized job-training grants are: B. Braun Medical, Inc., of Allentown, Pa., $250,000; Leidy's Inc., of Souderton, Pa., and Siemens Energy and Automation, Inc., of Spring House, Pa., $200,000 each; BAE Systems of Lansdale, Pa., $150,000; American Infrastructure of Worcester Pa., $100,000; Weldship Corporation of Bethlehem, Pa., $75,000; Glen-Gery Brick of Reading, Pa., and GST Corporation of Allentown, $64,000 each; Honeywell of Allentown, $52,000; Dual Temp Co., of Allentown, $50,000; and Trifecta Technologies Inc., of Allentown, $9,000.
Companies will use the funding in many ways including development and training in basic robotics project management, network certification for employees, development of mechanical skills, or specific industry certification training.
The Center for Professional Development is the corporate outreach department of DeSales University. The Center offers the corporate community various resources for workforce development.
The Center is an authorized administrator of Pennsylvania State Grants through the Department of Community and Economic Development. These "customized job training" grants offer matching funds for training employees. The 75/25 percent match enables companies to increase their training budgets 300 percent.

DeSales has become so intimately associated with these organizations, we felt it appropriate that we honor them and recognize their achievement," said Andy Roman, director of the Center for Professional Development at DeSales University.
"These grants make it possible for companies to provide the latest in training for their employees resulting in a more competitive, profitable company. It is truly a win-win endeavor."
The Center for Professional Development also offers seminars, workshops, coaching sessions and e-business consulting to assist our business community in maintaining a competitive edge.
