Local Students to Celebrate National History Day at DeSales University
Center Valley, Pa. - (February 15, 2002) - On two Saturdays in March, more than 350 students from 26 middle and high schools in Lehigh and Northampton counties will participate in the District Competition for National History Day at DeSales University.
History Day is a competition for sixth through twelfth graders designed to get students involved in and excited about the study of history. The theme for this year's national competition is "Revolution, Reaction, Reform in History."
On Saturday, March 16, student projects will be judged in the Billera Hall Sports Complex between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. Spectators may view the exhibits from 1 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. Winners will be announced at 1:30 p.m.
On Saturday, March 23, at 9:15 a.m., in Dooling Hall, student performances will be judged. From 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., in McShea Center, there will be a discussion between the participants. The winners will be announced at 1:15 p.m.
Winners from the District Competition move to the state competition held at Pennsylvania State University, University Park on May 8 and 9.
