Tom McNamara, executive director of communications, oversees all communications and marketing for DeSales University, which includes publications, media relations, marketing, and website content.
Tom joined the staff of DeSales University in August 1995 as public relations coordinator, and in 1997, he became the University's grant writer and director of publications. In that role, Tom has centralized the University's publications process, introduced a graphic standards policy, and was responsible for the University's alumni magazine, annual report, undergraduate recruitment materials, and more than 250 other publications during the year. In May 2007, he became executive director.
Previously, Tom was a senior editor at a medical publishing company where he was responsible for six clinical dental publications, including one of the best-read continuing education journals for dentists, The Compendium, and its sister publication for hygienists, Oral Hygiene. Tom edited manuscripts and page proofs, had final approval on design and layout, reviewed clinical art, wrote product descriptions and marketing copy, and supervised full-time and freelance editors and writers. He also participated in the launch of Oral Hygiene.
Tom also worked as a writer, proofreader, fact checker, and art assistant at Delaware Valley Magazine. As a freelance editor, Tom has edited clinical abstracts, brochures, articles, and a medical textbook.
Tom has a bachelor of arts in English and is a graduate of DeSales University. He is a member of the University and College Designers Association (UCDA) as well as the College and University Public Relations Association of Pennsylvania (CUPRAP). In 2004, Tom was named DeSales University's Professional Staff Employee of the Year.

Laura joined the staff of the DeSales University publications office in March 2006.
As the director of publications, Laura heads the design and editorial duties of the alumni magazine, the monthly faculty/staff newsletter, and the content of the Office of Institutional Advancement web pages.
Her other responsibilities include editing and proofreading printed material for the various departments in the University, including Admissions and Institutional Advancement, writing material for publications such as the Donor Giving Report, and producing department newsletters.
Before coming to DeSales, Laura was a writer and associate editor in the public relations office of Lycoming College, in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, where she completed her bachelor of arts degree in English/Creative Writing.
