Story by Matt Sandy (with photos) on the annual Nurse Camp held at DeSales from June 21 to 23 includes quotes by Dr. Kerry Cheever, chairperson of the department of nursing and health at DeSales, on the camp that attracts students entering grades 10, 11 and 12, from Pennsylvania and New Jersey. The program, now in its sixth year, gives high school students, interested in nursing, a chance to attend various seminars, and to shadow LVHHN nurses to learn about nursing. The exhaustive program include various activities, such as a walking tour of the hospital pharmacy, clinical emergency simulations, working with respiratory equipment, touring an ambulance and MedEvac helicopter, visiting trauma, newborn baby and radiology units, and shadowing real nurses around the hospital.
