Pennsylvania CPA Journal, July 2005
Article by Dr. Christopher R. Cocozza, assistant professor of business at DeSales and a senior instructor with Becker CPA Review, focuses on the importance of the CPA Exam in the professional growth and development of accountants. According to Cocozza, partners and managers of an accounting practice need to be professional mentors and stress the importance of certification. This would include providing career path guidance, as well as a strategy for helping staff members pass the CPA Exam. Cocozza cites four essential steps that ensure success on the CPA Exam. They are: take the exam soon after graduating from college; start the registration paperwork before the planned test time; avoid taking the test during the busy season; and always play to education and career path strengths.
