Story by Tami Quigley (with photos) on dedication of DeSales' newest residence hall, Bishop Thomas J. Welsh Hall. The facility was named in honor of Bishop Welsh, retired bishop of the Allentown Diocese, because he worked closely with the Oblates of St. Francis de Sales, the founding order of DeSales, and also to thank the Diocese for 40 years of profound collaboration. Welsh Hall is the largest residence building on campus with 140 beds, air-conditioning in each room, sprinklers, smoke detectors, and state-of-the-art security. Bishop Welsh served as Allentown's ordinary from 1983 to 1997.
