The Morning Call, Friday, August 19, 2005
DeSales University was among the local colleges and universities to be mentioned in the latest U.S. News & World Report list of top schools. DeSales is ranked 77th among schools in the North, up from 80th last year, in the category of best universities with master's programs. Universities after the top 83 are not ranked, but placed in tiers based on their ratings. The magazine categorizes schools based on their mission, such as liberal arts, national university, comprehensive colleges and, in some cases, on region. It also considers factors such as graduation and retention rates, and student-to-faculty ratio. East Stroudsburg University and Kutztown University are in the third tier. Moravian College is in the third tier of liberal arts colleges. Lehigh University placed 32nd in best national universities. Lafayette College ranked 27th in best national liberal arts colleges.
