DeSales University Honors Martin Luther King, Jr. With Events, Jan. 16 to Jan. 24
DeSales University will celebrate the life of Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. with a variety of events sponsored through the generous support of DeSales University's Office of Multicultural and International Affairs, Office of Social Outreach, Campus Ministry and the Cultural Affairs Committee. Monday, January 16
Inspiration and Achievement Display in McShea Commons, will feature photos and excerpts from writings inspired by the Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr., and the Civil Rights movement. Note: Display will be available for viewing from Monday, January 16, through Wednesday, January 18.
Also, "Keep the Spirit of Hope Alive, Place a Light in Your Window." Faculty, staff and students from DeSales may be pick-up a light to display. Lights are available on a first-come first-served basis and free of charge from the office of multicultural and international affairs.
Tuesday, January 17
A candlelight vigil and viewing of the Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s "I Have a Dream" speech in the McShea Commons at noon.
Wednesday, January 18
Gospel choir will perform, "The Beginning" from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. in McShea Commons. Members of the choir are from various churches in the Lehigh Valley community.
Tuesday, January 24
Volunteer for Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr., service opportunities at the South Bethlehem Center from 3:45 p.m. to 4:45 p.m. For more information and to register, contact Jaime Gerhart, director of the office of social outreach, at 610-282-1100, ext. 1889.
