25th Annual Dinner Dance at DeSales Offers a "Promise of Spring," Saturday, March 18
The "Promise of Spring" is the theme of the 25th Annual Dinner Dance at DeSales University, to be held Saturday, March 18. The black-tie event will be held in Billera Hall, where spring will come alive and bloom for guests beginning at 7:00 p.m. with cocktails, followed by a gourmet dinner at 8:00 p.m., then dancing until midnight.
All funds raised by the annual five-star gala benefit student financial aid. Since it was first held in 1982, the event has raised more than $1.7 million for the financial aid program.
Tim Nolan, senior vice president of Coventry Health Care Inc., and chairman of DeSales' Board of Trustees, and his wife, Kathleen Kund Nolan, are the Gold Sponsors of this year's event. Tim and Kathleen Nolan, who graduated from DeSales in 1977 and 1979, respectively, will be among more than 700 guests, including business, professional, and community leaders from the area, who are sponsoring tables or providing contributions.
Once again, Will Neuert, head of design in DeSales University's Performing and Fine Arts Department, is using his many talents to create an inspired setting for the annual gala. Neuert, whose credits include critically acclaimed scenic designs for Act 1 theatre productions and the Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival, is using winter shades of cobalt blue and sparkling white to accent stylized birch trees welcoming guests. Later, the shimmering colors of winter will transform into warming colors, such as pastel greens, pinks and yellows, of new buds and fresh blossoms celebrating the rite of spring.
During the reception beginning at 7:00 p.m., guests will enjoy assorted hors'd oeuvres and a full bar. Dinner, which follows at 8:00 p.m., will include a crab appetizer, salad, and entrée of filet of tenderloin on a pool of red wine sauce, with roast red potato stuffed with lobster-crab-shrimp-scallop Coquilles Saint Jacques. Dessert will feature Strawberry La Bomba with chocolate dipped fresh strawberries. Music will be provided by the Uptown Band.
Admission is $175 per person. Tables of 10 are available. For more information and reservations, please contact Diane Moeser, director of special events at DeSales, at (610) 282-1100, ext. 1307, or at firstname.lastname@example.org.
