Program for DeSales students offers entertaining look at work in a global society, Thurs., March 2

DeSales University students will have the opportunity to learn cross-cultural etiquette and professional networking skills necessary to compete in a global society, during a special program designed exclusively for them by international manufacturer Unilever on Thursday, March 2.

The Unilever Expanding Horizons Program: "An Entertaining and Informative Look at Work in a Global Society," will feature a reception at 5:00 p.m., followed by an international buffet and lecture at 5:30 p.m. in the Commons of McShea Student Union.

Guest speaker, Micole Bautista, currently Unilever's Global Director, is a top international corporate trainer. Unilever is an international manufacturer of leading brands in food, home care, and personal care, such as Lipton, Dove, Ben & Jerry's, Country Crock, Calvin Klein, among others. Bautista, who specializes in customer development learning and training, will draw from his 16-year career and provide insights about cultural differences and professionalism in the workplace.

"Our world is clearly changing and it is important for our students to understand how those changes will affect them," said Scott Mattingly, director of career services and internships at DeSales. "We are very excited about bringing a company of this magnitude to campus to provide first-hand insight on the subject."

During his talk, Bautista will address: what students need to learn in order to be ideal candidates for working abroad; how students can gain the experience and skills needed to succeed in an international company; and the typical career path for someone in international business. Also, he will share some interesting anecdotes and stories about cultural differences in dining etiquette and professional behavior, and provide tips for networking and professional appearance.

For more information, contact Scott Mattingly, director of career services and internships at DeSales University, at 610-282-1100 ext. 1367.
