In "Reflections," by Ardath Rodale, chairman of the board of Rodale Inc., she mentions Heifer International, an organization that reaches out to change conditions in impoverished countries. Its mission is to end hunger and poverty by giving families an animal that becomes an ongoing gift through families and communities. She names Mike Krasja, a business faculty member at DeSales, who took a group of DeSales students to Cuchuma, Peru, to work with Heifer. According to DeSales junior, Brian Radziwill, the experience was the most valuable of his life. Rodale praises organizations like Heifer that provide people with the means to support themselves and also care for our environment.
