DeSales Business Program to Feature Live Telecast From India, Wed., May 17
A day-long program from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., on Wed., May 17, in Campbell Hall at DeSales, will feature a live telecast from India with corporate, government and academic professionals (India time: 4:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.). The focus of the video conference is to provide Lehigh Valley business people in attendance with an understanding of the resources available in India. Also, they will her about the various issues that need to be addressed when pursuing joint ventures and capital investments in India. (NOTE: Although the program requires a registration fee, media interested in covering is welcome.)
The video conference, "It's a Flat World After All! Doing Business in India," will be presented by Ashoke K. Dutta, director of the Indian Institute of Social Welfare and Business Management in Kolkata (Calcutta).
Welcome remarks will be provided by Rev. Bernard O'Connor, OSFS, president of DeSales, and Dr. Mohamed A.S. Latib, vice president for program and strategic development at DeSales. During the video conference, the following topics will be addressed: India and the Global Economy; Legal Framework of Doing Business in India; Sectoral Opportunities in Power, Information Technology and Health Care; India and its Culture; and Competitive Scenario. The program will conclude with a panel discussion.
DeSales University and the Indian Institute of Social Welfare and Business Management (IISWBM) entered into a partnership agreement in April 2004, to pursue faculty exchange programs and initiatives in business management on the graduate level.
The Indian Institute of Social Welfare and Business Management, located in Calcutta, was established in 1953, and is the oldest graduate institution in India. As the first Management Institute in India, it formed an integral part of that government's efforts to promote professional management in Indian industry. Ashoke K. Dutta serves as director and chief academic officer of the IISWBM and also is a member of the DeSales University Board of Trustees.
