Barron's Challenge, May 1, 2006
Article by Christopher Williams (with photos) on top performers in The Barron's Challenge stockpicking contest for October 2005 to April 2006 includes DeSales students Mike Zinn, '06, and David Graver, '06, who ranked third and seventh, respectively. Participation in the competition was required by Dr. Charles Finady, assistant professor in business at DeSales, as part of his personal finance class. As third-place winner, Zinn was awarded $500 and also was photographed for the current article. Zinn is a dual major in mathematics and secondary education. Graver is a dual major in marriage and the family and theology. More than 2,200 students participated in this year's contest. In last year's Barron's Challenge, DeSales student, Russ Susko, '05, finished in tenth place. More than 4,400 students participated in both of the last two challenges. There were 17 schools represented among the top ten students in each contest,including UCLA, Wharton, St. Johns, and DeSales. DeSales was the only school with three students among the top performers.
