The Morning Call, Saturday, May 13, 2006
Article by Jessica Berthold on position of Allentown Diocese "to turn the other cheek" and not endorse boycott or picketing of the film, "The Da Vinci Code," includes comments by Dr. Rodney Howsare, associate professor of philosophy and theology at DeSales. Howsare agrees with the diocese's decision, although he believes Catholics have a reason to be concerned about how they are portrayed in the book. "I think even fiction has a way of teaching things to people that can present them in a different light, so there's cause for some concern," said Howsare. "But to boycott the film is like a science teacher boycotting a movie about the earth being flat. It's preposterous."
