In a story (with photo) by Father Mark Plaushin, OSFS, a faculty member at DeSales, who is currently serving as Chaplain (Lieutenant Colonel) in the U.S. Army in Kuwait, Father Plaushin states, "This deployment has brought me closer to God and has also allowed me to flourish in my faith." According to Father Plaushin, his parish in Kuwait is as large as the country itself. He acknowledges "the diligent and resilient Catholics in our armed forces, as well as in our government and corporate agencies." Among them is another person from the Lehigh Valley area, Petty Officer 2nd Class Frank najera, Jr., from Lower Macungie Township.
