In its second year, it won the regional championship and advanced to the semi-final round at the nationals in Kansas City, Mo., where it defeated two powerhouse teams in their league. At last year's national competition, it placed twelfth out of 840 schools.

"SIFE has taught me the fundamentals of business, teamwork, social enterprise and entrepreneurship," said Vincent Coglianese, '08, political science major from Camp Lejeune, N.C. "Our participation in the national competition is a testament to the hard work and dedication of many students from a variety of majors at DeSales. They have helped to build this program into the highly successful organization it is today."

DeSales students on the presenting team at the 2006 national competition were: Jonathan Andrews, '06, biology major from Lebanon, Pa.; Thomas Carr, '08, business major from Atco, N.J.; Johanna Cespedes, '09, law and society major from Bethlehem, Pa.; Vincent Coglianese, '08, political science major from Camp Lejeune, N.C.; Robert Day, '08, nursing major from Wilmington, Del.; Brandon Fogal, '06, communications major from Jim Thorpe, Pa.; Joshua Lee, '07, finance and marketing major from Allentown, Pa.; John McStravick, '06, TV / Film major from Secane, Pa.; Alison O'Brien, '08, political science major from Mt. Accompanying the students was Michael Krajsa, faculty member in the department of business at DeSales. Krajsa has served as SIFE team advisor, since he helped found DeSales SIFE in 2003.

As part of their presentation, students on the DeSales SIFE team highlighted numerous projects, addressed their overall value and benefit, and how they impacted their learning.
