Fr. Dailey joined the faculty of DSU in 1988 and is the senior ranking faculty member at the University. He served as chairman of the PL-TH Department from 1994 through 2001.
His area of specialization is Biblical Theology. He holds a doctoral degree in sacred theology (S.T.D.) from the Pontifical Gregorian University (Rome), where he completed his dissertation on the biblical Book of Job.
He has lectured worldwide on topics in biblical theology, Salesian spirituality, and Catholic higher education. He has written, edited or translated six books and over forty articles in a variety of journals in the USA and abroad. He has also written numerous op-ed essays and religion features for various newspapers and has appeared on radio and television in local and national markets.
In 2000, he founded the Salesian Center for Faith & Culture, which he continues to direct. Through the Salesian Center for Faith & Culture, he collaborated in the establishment of the Baranzano Society on bioethics in 2003, the the Salesian Leadership Institute in 2005, the Forum for Ethics in the Workplace in 2006, the Lehigh Valley Coalition on Sport Ethics in 2007, and the Thonon group for Info-Ethics in 2011.
Fr. Dailey serves on the board of governors of the St. Thomas More Society of the Diocese of Allentown, on the editorial board of the Indian Journal of Spirituality (Bangalore, India) and as a peer reviewer for the Journal of Catholic Higher Education. He is past-president of the Fellowship of Catholic Scholars, a past trustee of the Salesianum School (Wilmington, DE), and a past board member of The Cancer Support Community of the Greater Lehigh Valley (PA).
In addition to courses at DSU, he has also taught in programs at the Washington Theological Union, St. Charles Borromeo Seminary, Immaculata University, and the National Institute for Clergy Formation. Among other awards, he has been named four times to the list of Who's Who Among America's Teachers.
Fr. Dailey entered the religious congregation of the Oblates of St. Francis de Sales (O.S.F.S.) in 1980 and was ordained to the priesthood in 1987.
