Professor of Theology
Dr. Chapp joined the faculty of DeSales University in 1994 and was promoted to the rank of Professor in 2005. He holds a doctoral degree from Fordham University, with a specialization in Systematic Theology.
He has written The God Who Speaks: Hans Urs von Balthasar's Theology of Revelation (International Scholars Publications, 1997) and edited How Balthasar Has Changed My Mind (Crossroad/Herder, 2008). He has had scholarly articles published in Communio, The Josephinum Journal of Theology, Nova et Vetera, Pro Ecclesia, and The Thomist. In 2006 he was appointed to the editorial board of Pro Ecclesia, with responsibility for book reviews.
He has delivered numerous presentations to the College Theology Society. He received a prestigious award from the Templeton Foundation to promote science and religion, and has received two grants from the Our Sunday Visitor foundation to promote national conferences on the theology of Hans Urs von Balthasar.
Dr. Chapp has become a national media expert for Catholic theology, with multiple television appearances on CNN and EWTN. He has been a frequent guest of Bill O'Reilly on the Fox Television Network.
