Story by April Lisante focuses on Michael Friel, whose play, "Children of Fatima," is currently in production in Philadelphia. Friel, who attended DeSales in the 1970s, wrote the play in 1997, but the play did not become a reality until last year, when he bumped into his former college roommate, Bud Martin, and both realized they were still very interested in theater. The script was sent to several critics for review, including well known playwright John Pielmeier, author of "Agnes of God." Pielmeier told Martin the play was remarkable. Martin signed on as director and producer and the play is now in a three-week run. Friel and Martin are very optimistic and hope it is successful enough to move to another theater or city.
