Eastern Pennsylvania Business Journal, July 24 to 30, 2006
Story by Stacy Wescoe focuses on the recently enacted one percent sales tax hike in N.J. Dr. Christopher Coccozza, assistant business professor at DeSales and an expert on taxation issues, is quoted in the article. According to Coccozza, the tax increase should have only a minimum impact. "The question is whether one percent is enough to drive some people across the border," said Coccozza. "It will, perhaps, drive some people sensitive to price over the border, but more for large purchases or holiday shopping. I think the impact on daily shopping would be minimal with perceived savings being a much stronger influence than any actual savings."
