The Morning Call, Thursday, August 31, 2006
Front-page story by Matt Assad (with photos) highlights the Salesian Center for Faith & Culture's Center Valley Forum discussion on online gambling. Guest panelists were U.S. Rep. Charles Dent Dr. Amy Scott, faculty member in DeSales University's Department of Business, and Rev. Greg Hogan Sr., pastor of First Baptist Church in Barberton, Ohio, and father of the Lehigh student who robbed a bank to pay his gambling debt. Among those quoted in the story were: Father Bernard O'Connor, OSFS, DeSales president; Father Thomas Dailey, OSFS, director of the Salesian Center; Doug Griffin, vice president of technology at DeSales, and DeSales junior Vince Coglianese. Although the panel was anti-gambling, some audience members voiced strong concerns about prohibition and individual freedoms being violated.
