Arts writer Myra Yellin Outwater gives the Act 1 production directed by Dennis Razze a positive review. This year marks the 35th anniversary of "Godspell" and its emorable score. Razze updated the comedy to include references to modern pop culture figures including Napoleon Dynanmite and Austin Powers, although classic references to Groucho Marx and the Three Stooges also have remained. According to Outwater, the cast works well as an ensemble as well as a showcase for individuals. She notes that the exuberant, spunky and irreverent farcical routines created by Razze and performed by the cast add to the storytelling and its powerful and moving messages of faith and hope.
