Ethic of stewardship would improve energy policy

In an opinion piece by Kenneth Nivison, assistant professor of humanities at DeSales, he states that Americans are not addicted to oil, but to the individualistic lifestyle that oil enables. He points out that stewardship means the care of one's community. Nivison believes "our society is in a historically precarious situation" and that "we are living in dangerous disequilibrium with our neighbors." He encourages us to commit to a new covenant of stewardship and embrace the responsibility to give more than we take. We should commit to a sense of shared responsibility and demand this of our political leaders.
