The Morning Call, Wednesday, January 24, 2007
Article by Genevieve Marshall (with photo) focuses on updates of DeSales' five-year strategic plan for growth and development given by Fr. Bernard O'Connor, president of DeSales, at a recent Upper Saucon Township supervisors meeting. O'Connor stated that an upcoming capital campaign will raise money for a new residence hall, renovations to McShea Student Center, two academic buildings, a baseball stadium, and lighting for the soccer field. The three-year capital campaign still has to be approved by the University's board of trustees. O'Connor also hopes to expand DeSales' 400-acre campus by about 100 acres within the next few years. Fr. O'Connor added, "We want to grow, but we still plan to be a regional university." The land in question is currently owned by the Oblates of St. Francis DeSales.
