Forum for Ethics in the Workplace to Host Breakfast, Thurs., May 3
The Forum for Ethics in the Workplace will host an ethics breakfast, "Human Capital: The Ethics of Corporate Involvement in Public Education," beginning at 7 a.m., Thursday, May 3, at the Best Western Lehigh Valley Conference Center, Routes 512 and 22. The event is open to the public for a fee. (Note: More details regarding cost of registration and breakfast can be found later in this press release.)
The Forum for Ethics in the Workplace, a Lehigh Valley organization operating since 2000, united with the Salesian Center for Faith and Culture at DeSales University on January 1, 2006. By its collaboration with the Forum, the Salesian Center is able to extend its mission of social engagement into the corporate world and is able to capitalize on the working relationships that the Forum has already established in the business community.
The keynote speaker for the ethics breakfast is Diane Donaher, executive director of the Lehigh Valley Business/Education Partnership as well as members of the LVBEP Executive Committee.
"Many corporations encourage continuing professional development and ongoing education of their own employees, however, we wondered whether or to what extent the business community considers itself as having an ethical obligation to support public education and the education of the region's citizens in some way," said the Reverend Thomas Dailey, OSFS, director of the Salesian Center for Faith and Culture and managing director of the Forum.
"Our objective for this event is to take this broad topic with far reaching ramifications and focus in on the ethics of the question," he added.
Participants will enjoy a buffet breakfast and table discussions based on the keynote speaker's comments.
Registration and breakfast is $25 per person or $175 for a table of 8. To register, send a check made out to the Forum for Ethics in the Workplace to Lore McFadden-Westwood, The Forum for Ethics in the Workplace, DeSales University, 2755 Station Avenue, Center Valley, PA, 18034.
