DeSales University to host Annual Best Buddies Friendship Ball, Sat., April 21
The Best Buddies Chapter at DeSales University will host the annual Best Buddies Friendship Ball, from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., on Saturday, April 21, in the Gerald White Pavilion of the DeSales University Center. The theme for this year's event is "Growth of Friendship." More than 350 best buddies from various chapters at 14 different colleges in the region will be attending this year's event.
Best Buddies is a non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing the lives of people with disabilities by providing opportunities for one-to-one friendships. It has over 1,200 chapters around the world and affects over 250,000 individuals.
"It is a culmination of the friendships that have been forming all year," said Nicholas Schenk '10, this year's coordinator of the Friendship Ball. "It will be a night of dancing, friendship, food and fun."
Each chapter in the college program is run by student volunteers, school administrators and a mental health professional. The DeSales Best Buddies chapter, established five years ago, is one of 17 chapters in the Eastern Region. There are now over 90 buddies and students involved at DeSales.
