Gehringer and Seibert Named DeSales University Employees of the Year
DeSales University has named Marian Gehringer, who serves as senior accountant, and Dale Seibert, an officer with the DeSales University Police and assistant director of public safety, its Employees of the Year for 2007. Gehringer received the 2007 Professional Staff Employee of the Year award. Seibert received the 2007 Support Staff Employee of the Year award. The awards are given to members of the university who have distinguished themselves through service to the school.
A graduate of DeSales University, Gehringer also holds an MBA from Wilkes University. As senior accountant at DeSales, Gehringer assists in the maintenance of the university's financial records. Gehringer is a member of Most Blessed Sacrament Parish, Bally, where she serves as a sacristan. She is also a member of The Steel Blades, an adult synchronized skating team in Bethlehem. During her free time, she enjoys reading, sewing and gardening.
"As a graduate of DeSales University and the ACCESS program, I am a firm believer in Catholic education and continuing education," said Gehringer, who resides in Bally, Pa.
Seibert is an officer with the DeSales University Police and assistant director of public safety. As assistant director, Seibert is responsible for the enforcement of fire safety in all campus buildings. He is also the training officer for new police officers in the fields of fire alarm panels and procedures.
He also serves as the chemical hygiene and blood-borne pathogens officer. Seibert has written several university-wide publications, including The Blood-Borne Pathogens Plan, Chemical Hygiene and Hazard Communications Plans, which establish the safety parameters for the university.
"Working at DeSales University is a privilege," said Seibert, who also believes in the value of Catholic education. "The religious environment, with its established Mission as the nucleus, provides the foundation for unity and cooperation, as does the Catholic Church."
Seibert and his wife, Donna, have resided in Bethlehem for over 38 years. Seibert is the parent of nine children, 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. During his off time, he enjoys woodworking, digital photography and tinkering with electronics.
