DeSales University Introduces ACCESS Online
The DeSales University ACCESS program, the region's premier adult education program for over 30 years, is now available online. Beginning with the start of classes on August 22, students enrolled in ACCESS Online courses will be able to earn their degrees totally online or take online courses for personal enrichment or to enhance professional skills. (Note: Enrollment for ACCESS Online is currently in progress.)
"ACCESS has always been about fitting a quality education into the lifestyles of busy adults," said Deborah Booros, dean of lifelong learning at DeSales. "Flexibility has been a major ACCESS advantage for three decades. ACCESS Online is the latest innovation in this ongoing commitment to adult education."
DeSales offers two degree programs through ACCESS Online: the Bachelor of Arts in Management and Bachelor of Science in Marketing.
It also offers online courses for personal enrichment or to enhance specific skills for the workplace in a variety of disciplines including psychology, theology and philosophy, English and literature, art and music, history, criminal justice, finance, computer science, natural science and accounting.
ACCESS courses run by sessions all year around. They include six accelerated eight-week sessions, and a variety of 16-week sessions. Faculty members teaching through ACCESS Online also teach at the DeSales main campus at Center Valley and at the Easton campus. Students enrolled in ACCESS Online are entitled to the same student services that on-campus students receive. For more information regarding the program, check the DeSales University Web site at www.desales.edu.
"ACCESS Online will bring the DeSales learning experience to busy adults who are looking to earn a degree or enhance skills without the travel or many of the time restrictions," said Booros. "This will enable them to keep up with their work and family responsibilities."
According to Booros, different students thrive in different settings, with some better suited to face-to-face interaction in a campus environment and others to an online format.
"With ACCESS Online, in addition to our traditional ACCESS classes, DeSales can provide students with expanded options and offer more academic pathways for adults to achieve their professional and personal goals," said Booros.
Online courses are delivered over the Internet and can be accessed from a computer with a Web browser. Requirements to take an online course or to complete an online degree program at DeSales include minimum technical hardware and software, and Internet connection capabilities. Information regarding these requirements also are available on the DeSales University Web site.
