Core Courses
Completion of the MSN core courses is required of all students seeking the MSN degree. These courses should be taken prior to or concurrent with the Advanced Core courses, and prior to the Specialty and Clinical courses. Core courses include:
- NU 512 Nursing Theories in Practice - 3 credits
- NU 513 Application of Nursing Research - 3 credits
- NU 514 Christian Ethics in Practice - 3 credits
Advanced Core Courses
Completion of the Advanced Core Courses is required of all MSN students. These courses should be completed prior to the Specialty and Clinical courses. Advanced Core courses include:
- NU 505 Epidemiology - 3 credits
- NU 700 Advanced Health and Physical Assessment - 4 credits
- NU 701 Pathophysiology - 3 credits
- NU 702 Advanced Pharmacology - 4 credits
Specialty and Clinical Courses
All Nurse Educator students will take Specialty and Clinical courses specific to the development of expertise in teaching courses in nursing programs as well as in the provision of educational offerings to health care agencies, populations, and patients. Content includes but is not limited to outcomes assessment, curriculum design, principles of testing, regulatory compliance, legal and ethical issues, and a multitude of collaborative models for education.
These Specialty and Clinical courses include:
- NU 630 Nurse Education Models - 3 credits
- Clinical Education For (choose one) - 5 credits
- NU 721: Adults
- NU 722: Older Adults
- NU 723: Women
- NU 724: Children
- NU 725: Mental Health
- NU 730 Nurse Educator Practicum I - 4 credits
- NU 732 Nurse Educator Practicum II - 4 credits
