Mahatma Gandhi, Focus of Presentation by Neelam Deo, Consul General of India, New York City, Thurs., Jan. 31, at DeSales
Ms. Neelam Deo, Consul General in the Consulate General of India in New York City will present a program on Mahatma Gandhi, spiritual, political, humanitarian leader known as the Father of India, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., Thurs., Jan. 31, in the Gerald White Pavilion of the DeSales University Center. The program will include the talk, "Gandhi as a Political Innovator," followed by the screening of the film, Mahatma: A Great Soul of the 20th Century. Deo, Consul General since October 2005, is a career diplomat of the Indian Foreign Service with over three decades of diplomatic experience. She also worked in India's Diplomatic Missions in Washington, D.C., Bangkok and Rome. In addition, she served as India's ambassador to Denmark and the Ivory Coast, with concurrent accreditation to Sierra Leone, Niger, and Guinea. Deo earned her master's degree in economics from the Delhi School of Economics and taught in Kamala Nehru College at Delhi University.
