The DeSales University Schola Cantorum to Perform in Choral Festival, Sat., 2/9/08

The DeSales University Schola Cantorum, the school's select choral ensemble, has been invited to perform in the Lehigh Valley Choral Festival to be held in the Williams Center for the Arts at Lafayette College on Saturday, February 9. The festival, which begins at 1:30 p.m., also will feature choirs from Lafayette, Moravian and Muhlenberg colleges. The DeSales group will perform at 3 p.m. The occasion marks the group's LVAIC (Lehigh Valley Association of Independent Colleges) debut. Dr. Thea Kano, conductor of the New York City Master Chorale, will work with each choir after they perform.

Members of Schola Cantorum are selected by audition and are from all years of study at DeSales. The primary goal of the group is to provide members with an artistic experience through the art of choral singing to the campus community. This year's Schola Cantorum is the first in DeSales University history to perform at off-campus venues. Earlier in the year, the group performed at the Sacred Heart Senior Living Center in Center Valley.

Members of Schola Cantorum include:

Sopranos:

Lauren Greene, Stephanie Halinski, Kathleen Harazim, Jamie Heck, Christine Pierce, Amanda Reese, Kelly Thompson and Elizabeth Valk.

Altos:
