Screendance Festival
November 10 & 11, 2012

This year we are thrilled to be opening our 7th Annual Screendance Festival with a screening of a new documentary titled Joffrey: Mavericks of American Dance about the founding of the Chicago-based Joffrey Ballet company on the first night of the festival, Saturday, November 10th at 8 pm. The films director, Bob Hercules, and two of its featured company dancers, our very own Trinette Singleton and Davis Robertson, will form a panel discussion that will help fill in the story surrounding this remarkable company.

And Mr. Hercules returns on the second evening, Sunday, November 11th at 8pm to judge the film submissions of our 48-Hour Screendance Challenge wherein our Dance and TV/Film majors work together to conceive, choreograph, light, shoot and edit a film in just 48 hours. This popular event often draws a standing room only crowd and both evening events are free and open to the public. Please note both events will be held in the auditorium of the Pricilla Payne Hurd Science Center on the DeSales campus.

Gaudeamus Christmas Concert

The TV/Film students at DeSales have been described as “young filmmakers on the rise.” This annual showcase celebrates the fruits of their year-long labor as screenwriters, directors, actors, cinematographers, editors, and musicians. These witty, compelling, and often powerful films give rise to a new generation of storytellers.
