DeSales Juniors Kim Rarick and LeighAnn Burke Rack up more Women's Hoops Honors

Juniors Kim Rarick, of Ringtown, Pa., and LeighAnn Burke, of Philadelphia, continue to receive accolades and garner more honors for the DeSales women's basketball team.

Rarick, a graduate of North Schuylkill High School, begins the list of honorees as she finished the year ranked #1 in the country in free throw shooting percentage. Burke, on the other hand, has been named the D3hoops.com Mid-Atlantic Region Player of the Year and to the D3hoops.com Mid-Atlantic All-Region First-Team and was also named to the WBCA All-Region First-Team. Burke also earned All-American honors being named to the D3hoops.com All-American Second-Team and was also named a WBCA/State Farm Honorable Mention All-American over the weekend.

Rarick finished the season averaging 15.1 points per game and 4.2 assists per game. She is the individual national champion in free throw shooting after converting 93.0 percent during the season. The mark is also a single-season record at DeSales as she made 146-of-157 attempts during the season, missing just 11 freebies. Rarick's percentage is also the fourth highest in the history of NCAA Division III women's basketball. She finished the season becoming the 18th player in women's basketball history to score 1,000 career points (1,020) and is already ranked fifth all-time with 306 assists.

Burke, a graduate of Archbishop Ryan High School, adds All-American and All-Region honors to her long list of accolades for the first-time in her career. She finished the season leading the team in scoring at 19.3 points per game and with a school-record 74 made three-pointers. Burke also led the team with 90 steals (3.0 SPG) and averaged 3.7 rebounds per game. Just a junior, she is already ranked eighth all-time at DeSales with 1,338 career points and 10th in steals with 200.

Burke adds these honors to a list that includes being named the Freedom Conference Player of the Year, named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District First-Team, named a Jostens Trophy Finalist and being named the Lehigh Valley Small College Basketball Association Player of the Year this season.

The Bulldogs finished the season with a 26-4 overall record and having won the Freedom Conference championship. DSU advanced to the NCAA Tournament where they won two games and played into the "Sweet 16" round before being eliminated by eventual national champion, Howard Payne University.
