Barber, the 2008 President's Medal winner, graduated summa cum laude with a B.S. in psychology and criminal justice. The President's Medal is presented annually to a graduating senior who has attained intellectual maturity consistent with the talents, demonstrated by their manner of living that is guided by principles of Catholic teaching and exhibited by service to the DeSales University community, loyalty and devotion to the University and the principles on which its philosophy is based.

Among Barber's other graduation honors and awards are The Distinguished Psychology Senior Award and The Frank and Maryann Dattilio Psychology Senior Undergraduate Research Award. He also was a member of the DeSales Honor Program sponsored by the Salesian Center for Faith & Culture.

While at DeSales, Barber was active in various other organizations, including PACE (Peer Advising, Counseling and Educating), and Character U, the first-year experience program. He also served as a DeSales Delegate and as a Resident Advisor.

Following graduation, Barber began a full-time position as resident director at Shippensburg University, where he is pursuing a master's degree in psychology. After completing his graduate work, Barber plans to focus on the student activities area in higher education. He is the son of Tom and Kay Anne Barber, of Minersville, Pa., and a graduate of Nativity BVM High School in Pottsville, Pa.

Gross, who received the 2008 Provincial Medal of Honor, graduated summa cum laude with a B.S. in medical studies. The Provincial Medal of Honor is presented annually to a graduate who best exemplifies the spirit of Saint Francis de Sales, an eminent scholar, zealous apostle and true gentleman, blended perfectly a love of knowledge with the love of God.

While at DeSales, Gross was active in various organizations. She participated in the Salesian Leadership Institute of the Salesian Center for Faith & Culture and is a member of the Delta Delta Chapter of Delta Epsilon Sigma Catholic Honor Society. She served as Resident Advisor for three years and as College Buddy Director for Best Buddies, a non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing the lives of people with disabilities by providing opportunities for one-to-one friendships.

Gross is enrolled in the Physician Assistant Program at DeSales, where she is pursuing her master's degree and also serves as president of the Physician Assistant Student Society. In the future, Gross hopes to focus on one of her main areas of interest, which include family practice, internal medicine and emergency care. She is the daughter of Roy and Donna Gross, of Lansdale, Pa., and a graduate of North Penn High School.
