The DeSales University Mock Trial Team successfully competed in a regional tournament at Lafayette College February 16-18, 2007.  The team consisted of six DeSales undergraduate students who played the roles of witnesses and attorneys. The attorneys were played by Joanne Pedone, Steven Brown and Rudy Mendez. The witnesses were played by Julie Morris, Achille Scache and Colin Durner. Jennifer Moore, Esq., Assistant Professor, Department of Social Sciences, is the faculty advisor. This year's case involved a police officer who was accused of using excessive force in restraining a teenage gang member. The victim's family was suing the local police department for monetary damages as a result of the injuries their son sustained. All teams were responsible for preparing both sides of the case, plaintiff and defense. Other school who participated in the tournament include: the University of Maryland, Georgetown University, and the University of Pennsylvania.
