Assistant Professor of Theology
Dr. Hearden joined the department in 2008, having completed her doctorate at Marquette University on "The Mother of Christ as a Symbol of Christian Unity: A Case Study for Ecumenical Dialogue."
She has had scholarly articles published in the Journal of Ecumenical Studies, American Catholic Studies, Spiritual Life, and Pro Ecclesia. Dr. Hearden is co-editor (with Dr. Virginia Kimball) of, and a contributor to, Mary for the Love and Glory of God, published by the Ecumenical Society of the Blessed Virgin Mary (Bloomington, IN: AuthorHouse, 2010). Currently, Dr. Hearden is working with Dr. Kimball as co-editor of, and contributor to, Mary: God-Bearer to a World in Need, forthcoming in 2013 from Pickwick Publications.
You can hear Dr. Hearden speak about the Blessed Virgin Mary and Christian feminism through the "Among Women" podcasts, hosted by Pat Gohn. She also gives presentations at various parish, diocesan, and community-sponsored events in the Lehigh Valley and New Jersey.
